Shoveling, Round 2

Done. LOTS of snow out there. I seriously need to clean off my memory card and take some pics. Okay, think I'll do that now.

At least hubby is on his way home. It's going to be a LOOOOONG wait waiting for him to get here

On a positive note...

Since I'm super worried and stressed out over hubby getting home and I can't do ONE SINGLE thing to help it out, I've decided to inventory my sewing/scrapbooking room and find projects that I can finish.

Just as well, this is my vacation and lo and behold, I'm forced to stay home. As long as hubby is forced to stay home Saturday, he'll have a four day weekend too (he has Friday and Sunday off). He can take care of Adin and I'll get to PLAY!

So, I found a few projects, I'll have to photo them later...but I am making a list...I'm better at sticking to things when I have a list.

- Kitty City quilt: I'm so close on this one, just need to quilt 2 more blocks and a border. It's been 6 years (geesh, almost 7), so it's about time this gets done. (Check out the patterns at www.amybradleydesigns.com)

- Beautiful Colorado quilt: I've been working on this for a while now too...maybe about 4 or 5 years, but it's going to be so nice when it's done. It's a lot of little intricate work, so I can only do each piece for so long before moving on to something else. Maybe I'll spend some time on this one too. (the company that made these patterns was horrible, and they went out of business soon after starting - and before they finished paying all their employees, grr)

- Aspen scrapbook: I made the first page about a month or two ago, but since then I haven't done a thing (darn Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas!). We spent Labor Day in Aspen with my ENTIRE family for my parent's 40th anniversary, so this is going to be a special scrapbook

- Florida scrapbook: This is partially started, I should just finish it so I can focus on other things.

Whew! That's quite a list. And the scary thing is, there are tons more projects I'd like to do (like tackle the 300+ pictures that I want to scrapbook).

Well, I'll provide continuous live coverage of the progress of these projects (haha, I think I've been watching the news too much!)

Anyone have some motivation to donate?

I guess this is the week where all motivation is lost...

I've been gone from work since last Wednesday when the blizzard hit, and getting it together to get into work this morning was like running in quick-dry cement. Seriously - it's like the motivation has been sucked out of me.

So, of course, I'm blogging. I'm working on setting up a blog for my bosses - and since I'm new to this stuff myself, I'm learning on the fly. Although I'm also realizing there is a lot out there to learn - I wish I knew more web design stuff than I do. Sometimes it amazes me that I actually run a website for my job...it makes me giggle when I realize I have a degree in Biology

I'm putting the request out there - if you have extra motivation you don't know what to do with - I'm taking it...just send it my way, I could certanily use it this week!

Our Tree

Thought I'd include a little pic of our tree with the Santa presents, and our presents for family. Santa only brought Adin a few gifts...we couldn't afford that many, he has a lot already, and his birthday is in exactly 2 months...plus, he's only 10 months old...he has a lot of things already.

Eerie photo...

I wanted a quick photo of the outside of our house with the Christmas lights and rediculous amount of snow...so I snapped one when we got home tonight (notice the additional 1" of FRESH snow...seriously...I can't believe all of it).

Anyway, thought it was very cool how my flash reflected off of the fog in the air - kind of "ghostly". There was tons of fog on the drive home, but I didn't realize there was any at our house until I checked out this pic...

Maybe though it was the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present or Future coming to visit me...

Merry Christmas!

Not my favorite holiday - most people know I get grouchy and irritable during this holiday. I think it's the pressure to please everyone with unique gifts year after year. Or a whole other host of issues that I have, ha ha.
Nonetheless, I enjoy the various components of the day - the music, the cookies, the pretty tree, the appreciation people have when they open their presents...etc. So, I'm ready for tomorrow, for the festivites to be at our house for the first time ever. We've never had Christmas Day at our house - it's going to be cool.
Ugh, and to think back to last year...I was on bedrest, on medication and pushing my limits with just going to mom and dad's house for Christmas Day. And I ended up in the hospital a week later. Wow, so much has changed in a year. I like where we're at this year a WHOLE LOT better.
I hope everyone out there has/had a very Merry Christmas or a good holiday for whatever your religion celebrates :)

Sleepy, but not sleeping.

I'm tired, I'm exhausted in fact. But I think if I go to sleep I'm wasting time, I'm going to miss something...sounds crazy, but well, I sort of am. And there is just too much going on in my head to fall asleep anyway (leaves me with great dreams though).

I don't like doing the work that it takes to shut my brain down. I'm laying in bed, knowing I will have to get up around 6 am, and that the second I turn off the light, little munchkin is going to start crying (it's a sixth sense he has). But I don't want to go to bed yet...despite being tired, I'm just to busy in my own head...

Planning the day tomorrow...ugh. I can only imagine the potential damage done to my car after all the towing, spinning wheels, and getting stuck that's been going on today....I'm not ready to speed out of my driveway at 30 mph just to get over a hump of snow. Let's hope the plows magically return tonight. I could just let hubby drive to work, but then I'd be without my car, and that limits the things I can do to prepare for xmas on the second to last shopping day of the season.

I won't be going to a mall (I'm not that crazy), but I am feeling an itch to shop (it's a problem). I don't think munchkin has enough gifts, but that's my issue, not his...he doesn't even understand Christmas or Hanukkah yet.

Okay, I'm getting sleepier. I'm ready to turn off the computer (or send it to hibernation...I haven't turned off the computer since it forced me to restart after an update). Then I'll curl up under the covers and turn on an episode of "Friends" that I've seen at least 25 times already, but that will play in the background while my mind relaxes. Geez...I guess that's been my routine for a long time.

Laura Menorah

On Thursday, we didn't have a menorah to celebrate the 7th night of Hanukkah, so I made one from tin-foil and birthday candles. It was pretty sweet...something we'll save for the future, and pull out and "ooo" and "ahhh" over the memories.

Finally home...

It was a craaaaaaazy day today...and I've had the emotional roller-coaster to prove it.

We got the car out of mom and dad's neighborhood pretty easily...speeding up to bust through a few snow drifts and such. The main streets and highways were a breeze, but the whole drive I was just nervous to find out what was awaiting us at home. The roads were great until the entrance to the neighborhood.

We got through the shorty street and tried to speed up to head right into our driveway, and what do you know? We high-centered of course! So, stuck smack in the middle of the main thouroughfare, we finally had a nice couple and two UPS delivery men help us into the driveway. We unloaded and settled back into home...the kitties were super glad to see us.

A few hours later, I wanted to go to the grocery store, so we hatched a plan for backing out of the driveway...and got stuck again. Our neighbor helped us shovel when a car with a tow strap drove by. They hooked us up and pulled us to the neighborhood entrance. So, stuck twice, ugh, I was a little annoyed by this snow.

The grocery store was missing a few things....salad, bananas (an Adin staple), zuchinni (an "us" staple), and of course beef - so we settled on peas and onions and the last package of ground turkey for turkey burger dinner. Not too bad...and we got everything else we needed. We thought we'd get gas on our way out, but noooo, the gas station was out of gas. The whole day just felt like when we were in Florida after the hurricane...very disaster-ish.

We busted through the snow at the entrance to make it in our driveway - ON OUR OWN! I then made L turn around the car in the driveway (I told him to "Austin Powers" it), so we could speed through the snow in the morning...we'll see how that goes.

So, it was a crazy day, but the munchkin is sleeping, the hubby is chillin', and I'm off to Santa's workshop to finish up some Christmas gifts and cookies.

Just another way to waste time...

Oh, I'm so bored. It's been 36 hours that I've been stuck here at mom and dad's house. Don't get me wrong, we've had a great time...I'm just ready to get home. I miss our home...I miss the cats, the Christmas Tree is going to need some serious water (especially since Chloe kitty drinks that water).

Adin needs a bath too, lol. It's gonna be an adventure getting home, but it should be fun. One of those stories we'll tell Adin's girlfriend when he's 16, and he gets all embarassed and mad at us. Heh heh.

Well, so I'm bored and decided it was time to start a blog...I need to keep up with all the youngsters out there...and MySpace is just not my cup of tea...so here I am...blogging with the best of 'em...

(For the record, even after the 23" of snow and the SCARY drive from work to mom and dad's, I STILL LOVE SNOW - wouldn't trade it for all the sunny days in the world - I love it love it love it!)
